We are a small, family operated perennial and butterfly nursery located in central Pennsylvania. Having a poor location for retail sales, we
joined rank with other cyberspace nurseries and launched our first web site, ButterflyBushes.com, in 2000. At ButterflyBushes.com, we offered the gardener a nice selection of butterfly attracting plants (both nectar plants and host plants), hummingbird attracting plants, hard-to-find perennials, lots of flowering shrubs, and of course, butterfly bushes. We shipped plants from May through October and guarantee satisfaction of every order shipped.
In spring, 2018, we launched Monarchs-And-Milkweed.com, because interest in Monarchs (eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults) and Milkweed Plants had been growing rapidly over the past 20 years or so  and we saw a need to create a web site that focused on just Monarchs and Milkweed. It was the case also, that we were by then nearing retirement age and would soon be offering ButterflyBushes.com to another nursery.
In fall of 2019,  ButterflyBushes.com was sold and since then, we have been offering just Monarchs and a limited number of plants at Monarchs-And-Milkweed.com. If you are interested in more of this story, please visit the 'About Rose' page of the web site.
For the customer who's interested in obtaining what they need to grow Monarch butterflies (milkweed, Monarch caterpillars, and a cage to rear them in), and keep up on the status of the Monarch population, this site is for him or her.

Our Plants:  Our plants are healthy, competitively priced, and ready for transplanting directly into the garden. Most of our perennials are shipped in 3" - 4" pots. We offer an on-line shopping cart, and for those people who do not wish to order via the online shopping cart,  we have included on our web site an order form which you may print, fill out, and then mail to us.
Our plant inventory changes periodically from May through October (the reason we do not distribute a printed catalog). What we offer in May will likely be different than what we offer in June, and what we offer in July will probably be different than what we offer in August.  For this reason, we suggest that you bookmark our site (add it to your 'favorites' if you are an AOL customer) and then check out our web pages numerous times during the growing season.
Quantities are limited on much of our nursery stock. Plants will be reserved to fill orders in the sequence in which they are received. Please order at your earliest convenience to avoid disappointment. Please do not order plants which currently cannot be ordered via the web site (if there is no shopping cart button for the item you want to order, it cannot be ordered via an order form that it mailed to us). When shopping cart buttons are removed from the web site, the item is either temporarily or permanently out of stock for the season.

Our Guarantee: We guarantee our plants to be true to name and in good condition when they are shipped to you. If you are not satisfied with the quality of our plants upon delivery to you, please notify us immediately (within 48 hours of delivery) and we will replace the plants or refund your money. If your plants are damaged in transit, contact the carrier at once for instructions on how to file a claim.

Our Monarchs:  We have been raising Monarchs for over thirty years, rearing them at home for over ten years before making the decision to raise them for profit. We love our butterflies and provide them a safe, healthy environment to live in and reproduce in. Their flight rooms are adorned with an array of flowering plants which provide plenty of nectar for them. All of the Monarch eggs, caterpillars, and pupae we ship are obtained from our flight rooms, never from the wild.
